Looking forward to Thanksgiving, I’d like to offer acknowledgement, appreciation and encouragement to all my fellow spiritual travelers. Known as Light Workers, Energy Workers, New World Servers, World Citizens, Souls in Service, White Magicians…spiritual disciples, initiates and students…we are healers, teachers, artists and leaders in all ways of life. There are legions of us all over the world – united by intention and commitment to serving a Greater Good – investing ourselves in ideas, principles and actions that we believe will better humanity and our planet.
Seeking no thanks or praise, yet humbly and gracefully accepting grateful responses, we serve for the self-satisfaction of expressing our heart’s desire, for the pleasure of living what we believe. We see our service as its own reward. Though joyful, our work can be exhausting. When stretched to our human limits, it’s tempting to think, “I can’t do this anymore.”
When I feel overwhelmed – by my own life and by global challenges – I look around me at friends and associates in my spiritual community. Repeatedly, consistently, delightfully, what I see are people who, whatever their own personal burdens and concerns, continue to go out of their way to notice when and where there is need and to reach out to help and support others. Or, it could be a total stranger, who – by taking the time for a kind word or a smile – enlivens me, and reminds me, “Oh. Yes. That’s how I want to be. I want to be like that.” I follow their example and hope that I am an example, also, for those around me. And, thus, we constantly inspire each other.
So, all you enlightened trekkers out there, if ever you’re thinking of giving up, please – don’t. Every thought or act of kindness, every gesture of love you send out makes a positive, dynamic difference in our world. You care a lot. And you give a lot. Come on, now, you know it’s true. Admit it. And when you count your blessings on Thanksgiving, or any time, take a minute, or a few, to be grateful for and give thanks, for yourself and all the good you do.
Happy Thanksgiving.
