Moon meditations can help us get in touch with the natural world & cycles of the moon. In the past humans planted gardens, kept track of time for animal husbandry & harvests. The Native American people named each full moon after a natural event or animal that was important at the time. The Farmer’s Almanac is a prime example of that. Many have lost that connection in modern times. Now, Moon meditations are held to honor the cycle of our 12 months & 12 zodiac signs. The yearly cycle begins with the Spring equinox in March with the zodiac sign of Aries. The yearly cycle progresses, using specific celestial & planetary energies that move us from Aries—a beginning point, time of an idea & planning or the planting of the seed–through the 12 divisions of the year. With each month & each sign, we are offered support in a process of nourishing and growing that idea, seed, or spiritual awakening.
The moon meditations at Earthsong incorporate current information on the movement of the planets, what we might see in the night sky & the constellation that represents the zodiac sign. By adding our attention to these, we become more sensitive to the happenings & the gifts the universe offers us. We are affected by things whether we are aware of them or not, so why not become more aware & use these influences that are there?
We have added a focus topic for the full moon meditation. The 2026-27 year will feature Mythology associated with each zodiac sign. This begins with the full moon meditation on April 1st. There is also a New Moon meditation offered. The new moon meditation is a time to look at what manifests, what we see happening from the blast of energy at its height at the full moon. It can also reflect what we personally feel & have learned from the full moon’s gifts & lessons. Group meditation with contemplation — All at 6pm
