from the book The Master Speaks

By Garth Fisher

The high-ranking warrior, came to the master, saying, “I have observed over the years that I am a master of defense but not a master of offense”. The master asked, “What is your hesitancy?” “I realize that I have a deep desire to avoid harming another”. “This inner conflict goes very deep into my very being”. The master asked, “Do you will to know the long-ago roots to this issue?” “Yes”

Long ago in another universe where warriors had much more powerful machines of war and destruction than are dreamed of in this world, you were a powerful warrior leader. You fought many wars for the “Overlords”, until they did harm to you and your family. In revenge you lead a powerful army and visited much destruction to the Overlord’s worlds and property. But at the end of your life, as you did a review, you realized the pain you had caused others, and as you slipped into the spirit world, you “promised” to never harm another, unless in defense of self or family or community.

“You have kept your promise”, “your karma is complete”, “you are free to live your life in peace”.

The warrior smiled, thanked the master, because everything that was said he knew was true, he walked away with a clear conscious and a sense of true freedom to go on the offense when necessary.
