Dear Stepping Stones,
I keep trying and trying. My life feels like an uphill struggle. What’s wrong with me?
It is good to hear that you are putting in sincere effort and questioning life process. This is a good place to start. Next, a change in viewpoint can bring a change of attitude that will support us to move forward. Instead of thinking about what is wrong with me, ask what is right with me. If we reflect back at our life, we’ll realize that life is full of challenges, but it was those difficulties that we learned from. The answer we found in the past, looks so obvious from the distance that time brings. Look back at what you have learned, where you have been, and what you have gone through. The challenge is just one moment in time. Know and trust that we will see a way through, just like we have done many times before. Appreciate indeed, the progressing forward in a journey of connections. It’s good to remember that in the moment of a past challenge, it may have felt dire, but one makes it through with accomplishing learned wisdom that stays with our beingness forever.
Even though we would like to live on Easy Street, life is full of opposition and it is in the tension of the struggle to choose a way forward that we grow in experience. A challenge can be looked at as an interesting opportunity. Instead of focusing on the struggle, ask what is this about? What am I learning? How can I find balance? What can I do to make this better? Where is the middle ground that can assist all involved to find a space of resolution that works for everyone? How can I work interiorly to create a better exterior of me? What is beyond this challenge? …. Something better.
In the movies Finding Nemo and Finding Dory, Dory says, “Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim.” Dory portrays the idea of not giving up. Something new is just around the corner. Look around and be open to possibilities yet to be discovered; potentials to uncover. It is with perseverance, optimism, and the willingness to keep the door open that options can appear. Options present choices and a choice leads one forward.
In the Wizard of Oz, the Lion looked for courage and strength of the heart. When the heart is engaged, it will move one through difficulty. With courage and strength of the heart, we will find the confidence to know there is always a way forward. The heart will encourage circumstance to work life situations to a constructive betterment. Following the heart is not about rights, wrongs, or controls. There’s no need to fit a mold, wear a façade, or perform a charade. Forget about appearances and today’s influencers. Take one’s blinders off, of what has to be, based on past programming. When a horse wears blinders, it will pull a carriage straight forward. It doesn’t see any other option. When the blinders are off, options appear. Look around, give a situation time, things will work out. The right choice for oneself within the options will lead one on the journey of heart fulfillment and contentment.
Birds fly. Fish swim. Dogs walk. We get to keep making different choices to lead us forward. Our choices are our responsibility. Accept the responsibility of a choice instead of grievance, victimhood, or self-pity. Know that we can always alter our course to a better option when more information appears to assist us forward. Our personal strengths and developed skills gained through experience will assist in the navigation of life’s challenges. Healthy relating with others includes having a support system that one can show up for, care for, and encourage with shared experiences. Remember that there is support in life more than one realizes. The heart and one’s soul have a quiet voice of support and balance. The soul does not make choices, but the soul assists as one allows it. You as the “Thinker” consider options and weigh them with the wisdom of the heart. There is stability in the heart and indeed the heart will stabilize one through any situation. Find that heart space that blossoms to greater possibilities on a creative path of growth, awareness, understanding, and wisdom. We share our encouragement, confidence, and trust along with calm clarity that you shall all find a clear voyage on your journey of life.
We are still in the position of waking up and having a choice. Do I make the world better today somehow, or do I not bother. Tom Hanks
Purpose is an essential element of you…the struggles along the way are only meant to shape you for your purpose. Chadwick Boseman
