Let’s talk about commercials. What kind of common sense is it to think that making your advertisement louder than the other commercials would make me want to buy your product more? Rather the opposite, it would be at the bottom of my purchasing list.
The advertisers must think that us, the consumers, have absolutely no common sense at all. Are we really supposed to believe that if we use their product that we will suddenly become beautiful, find the person of our dreams, get hired for our perfect job, have an impeccable home and ideal life with unlimited riches? Wouldn’t it be better to state why their product is a better bargain with superior quality then their competitors then to make false promises and lie?
Now speaking of lies – do we need some kind of law that states that every political ad must be factual or have a large statement on it that the claims they are making against their opponent was manufactured and statements were taken from multiple comments out of context and are not related to the topic stated? How can the politicians and advertisers sleep at night knowing the lies they are spreading. Do the ads need to state “True” or “False” on them?
The theme of using your Common Sense is spreading. Oprah used the term multiple times in her DNC speech. Think of where else have you heard the term used?
So, let’s remember to use our Common Sense in all aspects of our life. If something doesn’t feel or seem right, honest, practical it’s probably not the best choice to make, that’s just Common Sense.
