Recently I watched my puppy playing in the yard. Since he was still learning yard boundaries, he was attached to his lead that was now attached to nothing. I had to laugh as he sat crying as I walked away, thinking he could not follow, believing he was tethered to that spot. I called to him to encourage him and to try to show him he was free, but try as I might he sat crying….eventually he started to move, reluctantly, hesitantly, expecting to be stopped with every step. Soon he was reveling in his new found freedom!
I couldn’t help but think how we humans have similar beliefs and behaviors. So many of us are tethered to imaginary chains thinking they are holding us back, when in reality, we are the only ones holding ourselves back with imaginary boundaries.
Is there something you want to do but believe you cannot? Slip your tether and set yourself free – you too may be surprised with your new found freedom!
