Ageless Wisdom explains that our personality includes our physical, (both dense & etheric) emotional & mental natures. When the various parts of our personality are in alignment, we have a coordinated personality. A coordinated personality is considered a necessary stage of development on our path of spiritual evolution.

All of the stages of development, in this tradition, are equally important and they are all part of the unique spiritual path of each individual. Even when we are not aware of the Light Within and our Creative Source, it is there inspiring us to move forward. That Divine Spark of Light within is expanding slowly over many lifetimes as we wake up to the presence of our Soul.

At a certain stage of development, we can begin to accelerate that expansion. When we have a desire to be the best person we can be and want to contribute to the world being a better place, then we are ready to move forward more rapidly. Many people are awakening to their spiritual life but are not sure how to resolve issues that are keeping them stuck in old self-defeating patterns. Often, we are aware of the patterns but are unable to shift on our own. Sometimes stress gets in our way and must be dealt with first.

In modern life, we are often encouraged to focus in our head and not notice what is going on in our body. The mind – body concept or mindfulness is trying to help us to be aware of our whole self. Meditation is one of many ways to make this shift. Our physical sensations are a type of communication from the body to let the mind know how it is doing. During meditation and self Reiki, too, it is a good idea to scan the body to see how it is doing. Writing down what you notice can be helpful to identify patterns.

Noticing and being open to communication from various parts of the personality can be so helpful in healing and spiritual development. The communication might be in words or images or felt sensations. It takes time to learn the language of the body and the many parts of the personality.

This is a very easy meditation practice which can be used on a regular basis to get to know the various parts of yourself including your physical, emotional and mental natures:

You can begin by finding a comfortable place for your body to relax and then gently close your eyes, focus inward and let go of the outer world for a while. Focus on your breathing, allowing your breathing to find a natural rhythm of deep slow breathing. You can even imagine that you are bringing in relaxation with every breath and sending the relaxing breathe throughout your body. Then you can imagine that every time you breathe out you are releasing and letting go as you relax more and more deeply. Next with your awareness scan your physical nature from head to toe or toe to head. Notice any tension, stress, discomfort or even any resistance to deep relaxation. You can image that you are breathing out through any area that is not as relaxed as you would like it to be.

At the emotional level, notice if some emotions are present. Then just name, acknowledge and accept the emotions. If they are connected to an experience that you have not processed you could do that now or after the meditation. You could ask yourself if you learned something from the experience or if you experienced a change in yourself that is positive even though the experience was negative. Emotional healing is about a change of perspective. We have more comfort in our body if we process the experiences where emotions arise.

Take some time to notice your thoughts. Thoughts are living energy and they do not want to be ignored but we can acknowledge them and let them go until after the meditation. A teacher once suggested just saying to the thoughts, thank you for sharing, we will talk after the meditation.

As you use this simple process on a regular basis, you will begin to have alignment in your personality. Then you will be able to very easily notice how you are doing on any and all levels whenever you choose. You will have a coordinated personality. That will make it easier to reach up and connect with your Higher Self or Soul.
