Divine timing is always amazing to me. Have you had this kind of experience? Things in your life may seem stalled and are not moving forward as you would like, or had planned. A seeming tragedy ends up being a blessing.

I have learned to ask myself: Why is this happening? Is there something I need to understand before this project can flow easily again? Is there new information coming to me? Is there someone I have to talk with or will meet that will make it clearer? What has this pause given me time to do that I might not have done without it? Often, it is not until we look back that we can we understand. Before we feel life is too hard, or we have no control, perhaps we need to look at it from a new perspective.

I had a client who was a wonderful house painter. He had an injury that prevented him from taking on a large interior painting job. This meant he would have about three months without work.  Shortly after this his partner was diagnosed with cancer. He was able to spend time with her and support her healing process. In the end, her cancer was successfully treated, and he was offered an even better contract for a much more manageable job. He talked about the gift of time and the less stressful job secured in the end.

I asked my friend to tell me about another beautiful true story.  She had been a veterinary tech for some years. She and her husband were devoted dog lovers and compassionate owners.  I had seen the way their dogs had become loving and gentle members of the family, traveling with them and being welcomed guests almost everywhere they went.

They managed their lives while compassionately helping their dog, Misty, through several months with Megaesophagus, where their pet was unable to eat without help and had respiratory problems. This is often a hereditary problem. Their dog eventually died. They mourned her loss as did many of their friends. (It took this couple some time to recover and look at their busy lives traveling and working. They had not looked to get another dog)

Then, one day recently, Chris tells this story:

She (the dog) came as a surprise, a most wonderful surprise when we first met. (Chris told me she had to do a double take) This dog was being walked by a then stranger. The dog walked like, had the same leash and harness—was even the same color–as her beloved dog that had passed. Chris went on, Raven, still a puppy then, was adopted by a member of our condo community. My senses were ignited by the presence of this beautiful pup, as she strikingly resembled our beautiful friend, Misty, who crossed the “Rainbow Bridge” less than a year ago.

Raven’s owner David, allowed us visiting rights. As Raven grew, not only did she resemble Misty, but also possessed some of her most endearing mannerisms. She stopped me in my tracks then, and does so every time that I see her.

Before Misty, we were blessed to have another angel dog named Moet. When we adopted Misty thirteen years later, there was no doubt in our minds, and everyone around us, spiritual or not, that Moet had sent Misty to us. It took us over 3 years to adopt again, as we don’t just miss having a dog, we miss our friends.

We have graduated from just passing David and Raven in the neighborhood, to having one-on-one play dates with her. We have suffered some adverse times in our lives the last five months, so to be on the other end of this delightful soul’s leash has been very healing to us. While walking one beautiful sunny day, during our second play date, an incredible revelation permeated my soul….Moet and Misty sent this beautiful girl to us to remind us that they are still with us, and they will always be with us. I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t thought of it sooner, but felt uplifted by the revelation. When I look at Raven now, I see a cross between angels, our angels, Moet and Misty.  Without saying a word, she has spoken volumes of joy and love.

What a great gift–the sharing of an angel dog. David’s too busy life allowed the dog to be free to walk with someone and be loved by this wonderful couple.

We all deserve a “feel good” story to understand “divine right timing. I hope this was one for you. Do you have any stories to share?
