Reincarnation or The Law of Rebirth
By Pamela Brann
First let’s consider the Common Sense of Reincarnation with a few facts:
In Feb. 2024 reincarnation is believed by 51% of the world’s population and around 33% of American’s.
Reincarnation has been taught as far back as Plato in 4th century BC and Greek Philosopher Pythagoras in 6th century BC. It is also taught in Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism.
For the first 500 years of Christianity, reincarnation was a vital component of Christian doctrines. Then in AD 543, the then ruler of the Roman Empire, Emperor Justinian I, blatantly and brutally removed the Teachings of reincarnation from the scriptures of Christian orthodox doctrines. It is believed that in 553 A.D. during the Second Council of Constantinople the idea of reincarnation was found to have no place in the Christian Church. So, reincarnation was then removed from the Bible.
The Earth is about 4.54 billion years old and the population is now over 8 billion, of course when the Earth started, we didn’t have that many people living on it. But think about it, if we only had one life to live how many Souls would just be floating around up in the great beyond with nothing to do. (Or heaven or hell if you prefer would be pretty crowded) What if you were one of the unlucky ones that only lived to be a few years old? If we only had one life, how would you explain the child genius or the children that remember a past life and the facts remembered can be proven?
What would the purpose of your life be if it wasn’t to learn something from that lifetime to take with you to the next time you were reborn. If you were born again, say every couple hundreds of years, you could be back in another time zone and learning new things. What if the purpose of life is to learn, grow and connect our personality and Soul. Besides haven’t you ever felt or been drawn to another time zone or a country that you haven’t been to in this lifetime, maybe a vague sense of feeling you’ve been there before.
In my early teens I came across a poet Patience Strong, aka – Winifred Emma May, who was very famous in the United Kingdom. One of her poems that was my favorite, had the lines; (Paraphrased from memory) One life and one alone we have to live upon this Earth; one life in which to find and prove our worth. Even though I believed in reincarnation even then, and still do, I always loved this poem. I feel it had to do more with making your lifetime worth something. How can there be any value in just living one life time? How can you gain wisdom if you’re not aware that you are on Earth to learn something and to take that knowledge with you to the next lifetime?
So, ponder on the idea of reincarnation, give it a chance to grow in your philosophy to see if the common sense of it works for you.
