The interest in astrology has recently grown. Why that is could be multifaceted in nature. It could be due to the uncertainty of the time and no traditional clear or trusted source to go to. As people become more aware of their physical, mental and spiritual health connections, we look for theories that address them. Google Trends reports that online interest in wellness and horoscopes has doubled since 2010. Where social media and predictive algorithms try to tell us who we are and what we like, many are rebelling and don’t want to be led by someone or something else’s ideas. We may want to break out of others thinking for us.
I’ve noticed that there is more information available and a growing interest on the planets, solar system, and galaxies. The beautiful images from NASA and the James Webb telescope have taken our eyes and imagination into space. As our planet hurtles through space and cycles around our sun we are traveling 66,627 miles per hour. It spins 1,000 miles per hour. That is only a part of the influences of stars and planets. We are expanding our thoughts outward and inward.
As we look deeper inside and try to improve and ultimately understand ourselves, astrology offers another perspective. Our zodiacal relationships provide one way to comprehend who we are and what we need on a deeper and more meaningful level. This column will be dedicated to what is going on from an astrological zodiacal perspective that might be of interest to you over the next 3 months.
There is an ongoing full moon and new moon meditation series offered locally at Earthsong Books and Gifts in person and on zoom, and there are many available online sources as well. We honor the natural flow of seasons, changes in energy due to star and planetary movement. We increase our awareness and begin to relate these natural phenomena to our daily lives and world events. The local meditations are founded on ageless wisdom, the Tibetan writings, and a variety of other traditions like the Tarot or Labours of Hercules.
