Have you noticed lately that people seem to have lost their common sense?

Let’s explore what IS common sense:

The Oxford dictionary says it is “good sense and sound judgement in practical matters.” The Britannica dictionary defines it as “the ability to think and behave in a reasonable way and to make good decisions.” Going to Wikipedia it’s “common sense is sound, practical judgement concerning everyday matters or a basic ability to perceive, understand and judge in a manner that is shared by nearly all people.”

Common Sense usually kicks in at the age of seven. Yet we see people out their being totally impractical in everyday life. Some risk their and your life to speed past you on the road just to be sitting at a stop light two blocks away or to turn the corner in the next block when they could have waited two minutes and not risked anyone’s life. Is this a good decision or common sense? And we don’t even want to go into the number of people who run red lights thinking that nothing could happen to them.

Common sense is doing everything in moderation, being balanced in choices. Sometimes if you can’t find a common-sense choice just make any choice, if it isn’t working out then make a new choice.

We suggest that in this new year you might want to put your attention on things that are not common sense to observe if you could have made a different choice.
